- Single slot closed loop liquid cooler
Liquid coolant in the SAPPHIRE HD 4870 X2 ATOMIC is circulated through the graphics card cooler and a chassis mounted radiator by a pump assembly which fixes onto the standard system CPU mountings (both AMD and Intel mounts supplied). The graphics cooler, CPU cooler and radiator are connected in a closed loop by high quality flexible yet tough Teflon tubing and attached to each module with interference fit barbed joints that are sealed for life. This arrangement is easy to install, and efficiently cools the system CPU even in enthusiast systems where it is common to raise CPU speeds. The pump and sealed joints have been independently tested to 50,000 hours MTBF.

This isn’t your typical factory overclocked edition video card, however, as Sapphire has really upped the ante with extra features in this bundle. It would appear that Sapphire has succeeded in improving the reference 4870 X2 in just about every way possible. The Atomic Edition is faster, smaller, and cooler. While the price is around $200 more than a stock 4870 X2, I am thinking that really isn't that bad, considering that a full water cooling kit could easily cost at least that much. Even though a fully custom aftermarket water cooling kit will assuredly outperform the Atomic, the Atomic gets kudos for ease of install and zero maintenance. Combine this with an unsurpassed bundle and limited stock, Sapphire is guaranteed to sell out of these in a hurry.

The features, specifications, real world performance, and physical appearance of the Sapphire Atomic Radeon HD4870 X2 2048MB graphics card are all incredible.
