"Alles in allem ist die Karte ein guter Allrounder mit Potential. Es lassen sich aktuelle Spieletitel wie Crysis auf normalen Auflösungen gut spielen, sobald jedoch eine eher höhere Auflösung eingestellt wird beschränkt hier der recht kleine Speicher. Somit lässt sich Sapphires HD4870 512 MB sowohl für den Office-Nutzer wie auch den durchschnittlichen Gamer empfehlen. Die oft beklagten Temperaturprobleme des RV770 Chips kann man durch geringfügige Lüftereinstellungen beheben und sogar noch Platz für etwas Overclocking schaffen. Für den Preisbewussten Highend-Gamer lässt sich die Karte im Crossfire-Betrieb empfehlen. Lediglich der extrem laute Lüfter, welcher sich ab 35% Drehgeschwindigkeit deutlich bemerkbar macht, drückt das Feeling der Karte etwas. Für die erreichten Leistungen während des Tests erhält Sapphires HD4870 512 MB GDDR5 den Spielesuechtig.de Gold Award." (03/2009)

"Die Sapphire HD4870 ist für ca. 220 Euro (Full-Retail) ein wahres Preis/Leistungsmonster in der 200 bis 250 Euro Klasse. Wer nur die Karte möchte (Light-Retail), bekommt diese ab ca. 190 Euro und ist damit im Bereich bis 200 Euro bestens bedient. Lediglich der hohe Stromverbrauch im Idle trübt das ansonsten sehr gute Resultat und verhindert ATi-Forum.de Gold. So reicht es „nur“ für Silber." (09/2008)
